Employee share schemes come in a variety of guises. Most common are the ones afforded tax-breaks by the government: sharesave (SAYE), share incentive plan (Sip), company share option plan (Csop) and enterprise management incentives (EMI). Most quoted companies also offer executive share option plans (including long term incentive plans– Ltips) these do not attract tax breaks, but are becoming an increasingly vital part of the package, and in many instances are a more favoured form of reward than bonuses..
