Travel-insurance underwriter UK General Insurance has appointed Healix to manage its medical-assistance services.

UK General has created a strong portfolio of travel-insurance products that are white labelled by a number of major UK brands.

High-quality service and competitive pricing are key drivers for the UK General offering - it is crucial, therefore, that the costs related to medical assistance are well managed, while the high standards of medical care are maintained.

The Healix Medical Assistance Management Service tackles the commercial pressures facing travel insurers by taking responsibility for every aspect of an insurer's medical-assistance service, with a clear goal to manage reputation and cost.

This includes the assessment, selection and contracting of assistance providers and cost-containment agents.

The service will also benchmark performance in real-time against Healix's own performance standards.

The contract with UK General means Healix has taken full control of managing service delivery and ensuring cost containment is aligned to case management at every opportunity.
